I have a bad habit of diving on to my bed, and unfortunately, most times I do this I end up snapping one of the wooden slats that supports the mattress. After I had snapped about 4 of them I thought I should order some replacements, but that turned out to be more difficult than I would have expected.
First I wrote to my bed’s manufacturer, Limelight beds. They completely ignored me! So then, I phoned Bedstar, which is the website where I ordered the bed from. They promised to send some replacement slats out free of charge, but they must have forgotten as none ever arrived.
So in the end, after a bit of searching around the web, I found a forum post where a lady called Wendy from Bishop Beds, had said that she could supply replacement wooden sprung slats. A quick call to them (Wendy even answered on a Sunday) and I found out that they sold the slats for £3 each, and if you order 10 you get free delivery.
I think this is a great example of how companies can use the Internet to get leads. Wendy has been pro-active with helping people answer their bed related queries on a forum, and now her company is going to get another sale as a reward for her efforts. OK so it’s only £30 this time, but I will definitely consider them next time I need a bed!
Great work Bishops Beds.
I do the exact same. Whenever I need a spare part or anything for a old piece of equipment I always check online. It beats spending the whole day driving around to find no one has it.

Got my slats from Bishops Beds as well, Wendy was great
Thanks x
Have same bed as one pictured in above blog.My problem isnt the slats but the supporting wooden bar running down the middle. It has snapped and we are using a mixture of home made supports and duct tape.lol.Have to laugh or would cry(:-(.Does anyone no how or where we could get replacement from?
I have a mahogany sleighbed 4′ 6 that used to have hard wood slats that fitted in a groove running down each side with two cross bars , same wood bolted at each end. Long lost in house moves and now use divan within frame. Want to restore but no idea where to start other than finding wood merchant and get cut to size. The ones in here would not suit – I think, any other ideas? It does not have to be exact match as will not be seen but has to fit frame.
Thanks

Good evening,
I have ordered sprung bed slats and a memory foam mattress from Bishops beds and must say the service they provided has been absolutley fantastic.
Many thanks to this forum as I discovered Bishops from here.
Hi Paul,
Hope you’re keeping well. We’ve had a lot of leads and sales from your blog and just want to thank you again.
To answer a couple of questions from above –
Charlotte – Your best and cheapest bet is to get it from a local DIY store but spend a few pound more to get hardwood if you can as it will last a lot longer and is very unlikely to snap.
Chris – To get like for like slats you will have to go to either a timber merchant or good DIY store but you could have sprung slats in a frame which just sits into your bed. Get in touch if you’d like more information.
If anyone would like to contact us at Bishops Beds then you can get us on the following –

Thanks

i will be calling bishops first thing in the morning 🙂
my fiance also likes to dive on the bed from the door. and we also have 4 broken slats AND COUNTING 😉
i think i’ll get the 10 pack in advance lol
great blog, thank you!
jan
my last comment here 🙂
“it must be a ‘man thing’ the slats don’t break when i get in”
lol 🙂
after finding this great blog page by paul ‘thanks paul’
i cant reccomend bishops beds enough
its so hard to find replacement curved slats for my leather bed
but not a problem with bishops beds
i bought some new slats to replace the damaged ones and all the plastic clips for the entire bed
now my bed frame is like new again ahhhh good nights sleep in store
you might have to cut the wood down to the correct size but that only takes a short time with a small saw
plus the replacement wooden slats and clips seem better quality than the original ones that came with the bed
now i have kept some spare parts under my bed in case i break another slat in the future
thank wendy you really made my day ( :
10 out of 10 for bishops
julian (worthing/w sussex)
even if your wooden slats are not broken you should buy some more to fill in the gaps as this will prolong the life of your mattress especially if you have a spring coil mattress as the springs eventually will push through the gaps.
Wow – coincidence.
Paul I just read your iPad first impressions post, then saw this post at the same time my son came and said that another slat had broken on his bed.
Thanks to you I’ve just ordered some from Bishop beds as well 🙂
Dan.
I think we must be dealing with different companies. I emailed a question two days ago, no reply! I decided to place an order anyway and have not recieved an ackowledgement.

Hi there, I have the same bed as the picture above. One of my slats is broken but I can’t actually work out how to get the slats out? Any tips?? Thanks!
3 slats have broken on my son’s bed I can’t work out how to fit the replacements. Also for one, the slat is intact but the plastic lugs at either end are broken. Any ideas please?
